Stop Unnecessary Closure of 181 Miles of Sequoia Forest Trails

Imagine a beautiful day in January or February and the ground is clear and the mountains beckon you, yet you will not be allowed to drive on any of 181 miles of roads or trails north of Kern Canyon trail up to the Forks of the Kern, just because of the date. That is wrong.

Your comment letter is needed help stop this Fixed Date Seasonal Closure of 181 miles of roads and trails from 12/31 to 4/15 each year due to snowfall that may or may not occur.

The weather in the Sequoia National Forest is extremely variable. Forest reports indicate the frost season can vary by 90 days each year.  Some years it snows early, some years late, some years not at all.  There is no justification for the planned Fixed Date Seasonal Closure of 181 miles of roads and trail in the Sequoia.

In just TWO MINUTES you can help by submitting a letter using pre-drafted comments or your own comments to Congressman McCarthy urging him to draft a letter to the Sequoia National Forest asking them not to implement a Fixed Date Seasonal Closure and to extend the Lakeside vehicle access down to at least the 2540 line.

Please ACT NOW. Click below to create your letter.
This may be the last chance to stop these closures.
